This sponge was developed for playing with high-grain rubber. Despite its high hardness, it absorbs the power of the ball, allowing for both the ease of use and the ability to change the shape of the ball, which is characteristic of high-grain rubber. The 'Absorber Sponge Heavy' absorbs the impact of the ball well while maintaining the ease with which the ball can be dropped. Therefore, the 'Ilus S' equipped with this sponge is characterized by its sharp and stable cuts and pushes.

Each rubber has a lineup of multiple sponge thicknesses. Thinner sponge = lighter weight, lower bounce, suited for defensive play. Thicker sponge = heavier weight, higher bounce, suited for offensive play.
